Dinosaur Footprints
Based on the first report published by the Geological Survey of Iran (Report No. 26 – 1972), these footprints of dinosaurs found in the Liassic formations.
The footprints in the Kerman area are the first evidence of reptiles having lived in Iran in Mesozoic time.
The supplementary studies have revealed that these traces were shaped by a type of Theropod dinosaurs. The sediments in this region were formed 180 Ma during the Jurassic period.
The main footprints that were discovered in this area are being conserved as a geoheritage site.
