Mesozoic
The Mesozoic is the third geological era, lasting approximately 186 million years, from about 251 to 65 million years ago.
This time interval is divided into three geological periods: Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous. The Mesozoic Era is also known as the Age of Reptiles and the Age of Conifers. It is characterized by the dominance of archosaur reptiles such as dinosaurs; the abundance of conifers and ferns; a warm, greenhouse-type climate; and the tectonic breakup of the supercontinent Pangaea into separate landmasses.
